Vegas, O Vegas

Posted by Ice

Who haven't gone to Vegas? That would be me! I haven't although I have lived here in the US for more than three years already. There's so many things to do and so little time and money is also a consideration. I would love to go to Las Vegas and try one of those packaged Vegas vacations but haven't had the chance yet because of the reasons above. Well, I'm optimistic I will be able to in the future. :)

Reverse Phone Lookup

Posted by Ice

Have you ever thought that one day you can find a service that could trace an unknown phone number to its owner? This is what we call Reverse Phone Lookup where you can actually lookup the owner's name and address of the unknown phone number. To me, those pranksters, telemarketers and annoying unknown phone calls are tolerable unless they are already harrassing and threatening one's life and privacy. There was one time that I really needed this service but didn't know about this until today when an acquintance was kind of having a weird behavior and I got tons of unknown calls at that time. I suspected that it was him so I got kind of scared. If ever that happens again, I will definitely use Trace Number.com's service for peace of mind.

Looking Forward

Posted by Ice

That's My Answer

I’m looking forward to a massage that I have scheduled this Saturday morning, what are you looking forward to?

I'm looking forward to chill in the house, blog and check on car insurance. Last weekend, I didn't do anything but party two whole days and nights. Wow, sounds like I am a party animal! hehe...Seriously, I need to catch my breath and slow down a little bit. I might go and do a leisurely stroll at the flea market and buy some produce for the following week's menu. Or visit a friend at her apartment which is so near here. Each one sounds good to me. :)

Baptismal for Rurik and Freya

Posted by Ice

It was a wonderful day last Sunday. And so with Saturday but that will be later. It was Rurik Olaf and Freya Erica's baptismal. What lovely twins! I'm so happy for my friend. She is so blessed with two lovely angels. She couldn't ask for more. :)

Anyway, in the morning, we went to church for the baptismal rites. I was tasked to video the whole ceremony and it was nice. Cameras were clicking left and right. It was like the twins were stars. hehehe.... Anyway, afterwards, we headed to their home to have lunch. There was so much food and two cakes. The cake below really stands out. Aren't they cute? I went to their room and saw the beautiful crib bedding for the twins. How lovely! I'm sure it'll feel real cozy and nice for the twins.

Fay is here...

"The Jacksonville campus and all the surrounding offices are closed today and will remain closed until Friday morning or until further notice. A Tropical Storm watch is in effect for the Florida East Coast and the greater Jacksonville area."

I feel bad for feeling good when I heard this on the phone. There is no work today which made me feel good but who knows? Disasters could happen and who would want that? Tropical Storm Fay is moving so slowly and those it has crossed its paths are drenched with rain and heavy flooding. Right now, I already experienced two power outages in short periods of time and I'm just hoping that no worse things happen. A co-worker of mine called and wanted me to go to her house which is just nearby but even with Dansko shoes, I wouldn't want to battle the strong winds and heavy rains. I might get stuck with flood water in the middle of the road.

Well, I have prepared a little bit. Hopefully, this will be over today so that we can get back to work tomorrow. So many unfinished business.

Why Do We Need Friends?

Posted by Ice

What a fitting tag for me right now. One of the main reasons why friends are there is because we co -exist and that we learn from each other. Each of us need each other to live and survive in this world and I want to thank all my friends for everything, good or bad, happy or sad.

Thanks to Jenny and Mica tagged me on this.

"A hug is worth a thousand words, a friend is worth more."

We need friends for many reasons,
all throughout the season.
We need friends to comfort us
when we are sad,
and to have fun with us when we are glad.

We need friends to give us good advice,
We need someone we can count on,
and treat us nice.

We need friends to remember us
one we have passed
sharing memories that will always last.

Spread the poem of friendship.

Watching TV and more...

Posted by Ice

Tonight, I got the chance of watching the Olympics. Last night, I slept early and woke up early this morning. You know, I felt much better that I didn't spend so much time in the computer lately. I know, I have missed a lot of opportunities and I've been slacking with my blogging but I think I have given it so much of my time that I deserve to rest a little bit and enjoy other activities. And I have been.

A few minutes ago, I was able to watch Micheal Phelps get another gold for a men's swimming event. He's just awesome. Great athlete. And so with the other American swimmers like his close friend Crocket. I was also able to watch the two women American beach volleyball players win over Belgium and get into the semi finals. It was a very good game. I was on the edge of my seat cheering. I used to watch the Olympics back in the Philippines and now, I am just happy to be able to watch it tonight. I am praying that Shaun Johnson and Nastia Liukin win the gymnastics event. I wonder what events the Philippines is participating into. I'll just check in the internet next time.

Sleepy now. Ciao!

I got this from Charlotte Russe. Haven't used it yet since I just bought it last Saturday. I think this is the shoes that I have with the highest heels. It's cheap and fits perfectly that's why I didn't hesitate to buy it. I'm tagging Mica, Hailey, Jenny, Gie, Kim, Eds and Kate.

My shoe size is USA size#7. My Mom's feet I believe is only size #5. Among my sisters, I have the biggest sized feet so they can't borrow my shoes. Tsk...tsk...I have the nicest shoes when I was in the Philippines and they can't even use it. Well, they have nicer feet so I guess we were even. lol!

Swimming or floating?

Posted by Ice

It's always fun to swim at the pool especially with friends. The last time, I was trying to float but there were no pool floats available. I know I shouldn't be using any like that since I'm already a 20+ something person, but I can't help it. I don't know how to swim and would just stay at the lower level within the pool. I know I can learn to swim but just don't have the time to practice. Oh well...

I want an HDTV

Posted by Ice

Okay, who wants a brand new tv? I do! I would like to have a similar size and kind of television like my friend couple has. Their Samsung HDTV sure really looks good and produced a really awesome picture quality. I had a lot of fun at yesterday's party. With karaoke and an HDTV, it was pure singing satisfaction. hehehe....Okay, I am exaggerating but I can definitely say that there's a whole lot of difference when you have a 52" widescreen 1080p LCD HDTV. Well, when I can afford it, I mean truly afford it, I will surely buy one. Right now though, unfortunately, I don't have a dime to spare. tsk..tsk...

Nursing costume this Halloween

Posted by Ice

This coming Halloween, I have thought of wearing a nurse costume. It's not hard to find nurse costumes because there are tons of nurses here in the states. I actually know of one and I just can call her anytime I want to borrow. lol! That would be a good representation of Filipino nurses and I could pose at least for a day as one. Would I look good in it? I don't know. It remains to be seen. All I need to do right now is to find the one that will fit me. It's kind of difficult here in the states to find the one that will really suit me. Well' I still have time!

The hassle in moving...

Posted by Ice

Since coming here in the US, I have moved 4 times already in just three years. Can't believe it but one really never know what's going to happen in the future. Suddenly, you find yourself in another country even if you hadn't thought or ever dreamed about it. It just happens. It can be an adventure but the only thing that is a hassle is moving. Yes, to me, moving stuff is difficult. Since birth, I had not moved in another place so I wasn't used to the idea of buying or using moving boxes. It's really a big help and protects your stuff from damage. I wasn't aware that there are cushioning wraps, packing paper, moving kits, etc. to help a person have a good move. Now, I am more "exposed" to moving so I know those things already. lol!

Casbah Cafe

Posted by Ice

Last Friday, we went to Casbah at the trendy Avondale/Riverside at St. Johns here in Jacksonville. It was my first time to go to a middle eastern cafe and what a refreshing experience. It was my first time to try the hookah and I was surprised because I didn't expect that a tobacco could be so good. My co-workers ordered the grape and darma flavors and I liked it. I won't be hooked with it though. It was just for the experience and when we go back there, I will know what flavor to order. Overall the food was really good although I didn't like the cous cous.

Now, the best part? The bellydancer. Every hour, a belly dancer will perform in front of the diners. Wow! Now, I want to try belly dancing, too! Of course, if I can find the time. It was funny. I was trying to give the dancer a dollar but don't know where to put it. I tried to put it everywhere in her skirt, underneath the bra until the dancer told me that I should put it in strap. Everybody thought it was funny. I thought so, too. I was kind of embarrassed but who cares? They don't know me anyway. I even danced with the belly dancer. lol!

TGIF!
